DIA - Stichting Duitsland instituut bij de universiteit van amsterdam

About us

The Duitsland Instituut at the Universiteit van Amsterdam (DIA) is the knowledge institute in the Netherlands focused on modern Germany. It operates at the intersection of education, science, and society. The DIA approaches Germany within a European context and initiates Dutch-German networks and exchanges. Its goal is to increase and disseminate knowledge about Germany to a broad audience.

The DIA contributes to the NARDIV project by serving as a bridge for cultural understanding and academic exchange, with a focus on reshaping perceptions of Germany. Led by Political Science Prof. Dr. Ton Nijhuis, who acts as a key mediator, DIA brings expertise in overcoming historical biases through information dissemination and exchange programs, which align well with NARDIV’s goals of fostering intercultural understanding and addressing historical narratives.
