IFRo - Institut Français de Roumanie

About us

Placed under the supervision of the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs, the Institut Français de Roumanie (IFRo) is part of the cultural network of France abroad. The IFRo's mission is to promote cultural, linguistic and academic cooperation with institutional actors and Romanian civil society. Created in 2012, it is made up of three branches in Cluj-Napoca, Iasi and Timisoara around its headquarters in Bucharest and ensures the missions of the Cooperation and Cultural Action Service of the French Embassy.

IFRo plays an essential role in NARDIV, with Julien Chiappone-Lucchesi, head of IFRo Romania, and Loïc Meuley, cultural attaché, bringing valuable experience from EU collaborations that reinforce the project’s academic and cultural partnerships. Their expertise in fostering cooperation between universities and cultural institutes is instrumental in organizing events for the “100 Years of IFRo in Romania ” as part of WP5. Their involvement allows the NARDIV project to benefit from the organization’s established networks and expertise in cultural diplomacy, facilitating meaningful connections and impactful events that enhance intercultural engagement throughout the project.
